NEW LIFE AT 92 NEW STREET
This prominently placed property, built between 1865-69 to become a Victorian Masonic Halls, is to be given a much-needed facelift.
Large proportions of the site are derelict void space, including part of the auditorium of the former ABC cinema which closed in 1982.
Bringing the building back into full use and securing its viable long-term survival, it will house modern offices (potential co-working) on its upper levels with refurbished street-relating retail and restaurant uses below.
To the rear, facing onto New Street Station on Pinfold Street, its street-level will be reactivated by adding a positive feature for visitors.
Its attic levels will be rebuilt, with its façade retained along with window restoration where they have been blanked off.
Embedding sustainable occupier amenity, the building will see new changing and shower facilities, lifts, M&E, terraced areas, and break out spaces.
Other works will see its structural stability increased with new internal floors; the retention of the Victorian ‘Club Rooms’ into offices; plus, the retention (where practicable) of some 1929 elements of its time as a cinema.
