BIRMINGHAM INNOVATION QUARTER (B-IQ)
The plans, produced in a triple helix partnership with Birmingham City Council, Aston University & Bruntwood SciTech, include a long-term mix of strategic development.
Moving forward, a team comprising of Howells and Arcadis are now working with the three partners on a new spatial masterplan framework.
Covering 20 hectares around Aston University, plans include existing property assets and sites already owned by the University and Birmingham City Council, such as the former Aston Science Park & Bruntwood SciTech’s Innovation Birmingham campus.
This opens up the possibility for existing buildings to be retrofitted as part of wider plans.
Those wider plans aim to deliver 4M SF of new builds in a range of educational and health spaces for the science and technology sector, new cultural and community spaces, more than 2,000 residential and student bedspaces, and commercial and innovation space.
An outline/or hybrid application is expected to be submitted in the summer of 2024.
Here at YourPlaceYourSpace, we provide a collaborative space to support, promote and feature all the great work being done in the Quarter.
We will also be hosting a large bank of resources such as images, video content, drone footage, interactive maps, trails, and immersive experiences that will be used to connect businesses and communities with all the wonderful opportunities offered by the Quarter.
