Where is the Alexander Stadium?
The Alexander Stadium is in Perry Park, Perry Barr, Birmingham, B42 2LR. Not far from the Walsall Road and Perry Reservoir.
In brief
The Alexander Stadium was originally built in 1975 and opened in 1976 in Perry Park, it was last expanded in 2011. The home ground of athletics club Birchfield Harriers. Annually hosts the British Grand Prix, and it was rebuilt for the Commonwealth Games of 2022 from 2019 to 2022.

Alexander Stadium - history
The stadium was built in Perry Park, from 1975 to 1976 for the Birchfield Harriers athletics club, who moved from their previous home the Alexander Sports Ground (now Perry Barr Stadium) in 1976. It was previously expanded in 2011 with the building of a new stand, which was completed ahead of the Diamond League British Grand Prix in summer 2011.
Over the years, the stadium has been host to the Diamond League, and the British Athletics Championships. As well as the trials before the European or World Championships or Olympic Games. Team USA, used the stadium to train ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
After Birmingham won the bid to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games, work to rebuild the stadium began in 2020, and was completed in 2022, ahead of the Commonwealth Games scheduled to take place at the Alexander Stadium from July to August 2022. The stadium's capacity will be increased from 12,700 to 20,000. And at least 40,000 during the games itself.

Gym and High Performance Centre
These buildings were completed and opened by 2011. The gym is also a Martial Arts Centre. Opening hours Monday to Friday, 7am to 9pm. Saturday and Sunday, 8:30am to 5pm. The High Performance Centre is open, but for private bookings.

Rebuilding for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games
The stadium was completely rebuilt from 2019 to 2022 and opened ahead of the games in Spring 2022. They also built a test / warm up track outside.
