History of the Floodgate Street Board School
The Floodgate Street Board School was built for the Birmingham School Board in 1891 to the designs of Martin & Chamberlain (William Martin & John Henry Chamberlain). It is on a site bound between Floodgate Street, Moores Row and Milk Street, and is now a part of the Digbeth Campus of South & City College Birmingham. The school continued on the site until 1939-40 when it was replaced by St Michael's Roman Catholic School. By the 1970s it was an annex to Hall Green Technical College. It became a Grade II* listed building in 1982. By the 2000s the college was a campus of South Birmingham College (they later merged with City College Birmingham during the 2010s).
